The lamb was super tasty! Service was efficient. The decor is interesting and unique...it was a bit loud due to part of the restaurant being reserved for an event that night, but overall great place to grab some afghan food in a casual setting.

Wonderful food! Even for a pescatarian like myself, there are options in this restaurant. Meat eaters have many choices, and the lamb is a favorite. We had to wait a little while for the hummus, which I thought was peculiar, until I realized it had just been freshly made. It was delicious, with warm spices that made it a different experience than the usual hummus. We ordered the Afghan bread, which is somewhere between naan and pita... and great! They brought out a salad to start, along with a tzatziki like sauce and a couple of spiced chutneys. There is no booze, but you can bring in from the wine store just a few store away. Service was good, and this is a family owned and operated place. Very friendly and ready to help with the menu. I'd give it five stars if it weren't so bright inside! On request they dimmed the lights a bit. It's me, but I like a softer ambiance. Other than that, all is great with this restaurant! Oh, yeah, there's an upcharge for credit cards, so bring cash if you can. But that's due to the credit card companies, not the restaurant. It's not different than paying more at the gas station for credit cards.

Very good Afghani food. Much better than Sami's. All dishes we ordered had no visible oil at all. Extremely clean taste and delightful. The white, green and red sauces are all just simply great. No preservatives no artificial added. The beef triangle dumplings were interesting too. Side dish carrots with raisins were naturally sweet with nothing heavy added in. This spot is a definitely keeper for us.

Let me start by saying what an aesthetically pleasing restaurant this is! Subtle grey washed tables and chairs that allow the vibrant wall murals to shine. Hues of blue and white that give the space a clean, orderly look. A small mosaic tiled area that could be used for dancing (they do have live music on certain nights) and some seating areas where soft pillows invite you to lounge with friends. After walking in, the warm vibe continued as we were greeted by our server. She welcomed us with a smile and showed us to a table. We called ahead and knew that alcohol was not sold at this establishment. We brought wine and we're given a corkscrew and some glasses. We had a Groupon that entitled us to an appetizer (besides the complimentary salad provided to us), two entrees, two desserts and two soft drinks, teas or other beverage. After my inquiry she (our server's name escapes me) explained that Mazar Kabab was formally Sami's Kabab House. New owners took over last year but, the outside signage is recent. The menu cover and the dessert menu have yet to be updated. Our meal consisted of the Bolani Kachalu and Borani Banjan (served with bread) appetizers, two Uzbeki Qabuli Pulao entrees and two traditional Afghan desserts and two green teas. Each dish was fresh and delicious!! The flavors, smells and tastes all combined made the meal memorable! The service was exceptional! Look them up on social media, make a reservation and fill your belly! Thank me later....
